Project Description:
A. Objectives:
The restoration of all judges removed on November
3rd;
Drafting of amendments to the Pakistani government;
Halting of any undocumented channeling of funds
and weapons to the Pakistani government through
pressure.
B. Methods:
Legislative: Targeting of committees in the Senate
and House of Representatives;
Media campaign: opeds, voter and candidate education,
etc.;
Establishing Partnerships;
A conference (scheduled for March 2008) on detainment
and interrogation practices in accordance with
international human rights laws.
C. Evaluation:
Annual Projection of Campaign Goals and Minimum
Production Output :
30 pieces of targeted legislation introduced on
the state and federal level in the United States
and the United Kingdom. Publication of 15+
pieces of academic and policy-related documents
and papers. Fully staffed and funded offices in
New York, D.C., London, Lahore, and Karachi by
December 2008. Rigorous media campaign featuring
weekly coverage of the campaign in major international
news sources. Our efforts must culminate in the
passing of specific legislative and policy-changes
dealing with rule of law and human rights issues
in Pakistan.
D. Sustainability:
Steering committee consisting of lawyers,
judges, and academics in the United States, the
United Kingdom, and Pakistan. It will initiate all
operations. Board of Directors consisting of
partners will determine and resolve funding needs,
and approve all operations.
